Choosing the Right Path
Have you ever thought about how many decisions you make on a daily basis?
We decide on things as small as what to eat and as big as whom to marry.
We make decisions about what to do, when to do things and how to do them.
Life pulls us in so many different directions that it’s sometimes hard to know which path is the best path to take, the right decision to make.
How many decisions do you make in a day? Most of us make dozens.
And for those of us that are moms and wives, husbands and Dads, our decisions affect more than just ourselves.
How many of those decisions are later filled with regret?
We wish we had gone in a different direction, spoken in a different tone, opened a different door.
We may think we’re making wise decisions with the limited knowledge we have, but how do we know they’re the best ones to make?
James 4:15-16 speaks to this issue of making decisions.
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
Without oversimplifying it, we must pray first.
God alone knows what lies ahead.
At least begin your day with a simple prayer of surrender.
Acknowledge to God that you need and want him to lead, that you want to follow his leading.
Then, trust him to guide; and he will.
Pray first!
