Ephesians 6:12 tells us:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Do you recognize your real enemy?
I can’t tell you how many times this verse comes to mind as I face struggles, as I pray for a particular prayer burden.
Understand this clearly; we are in a war zone. This world is not our home and the battle we face is a serious one.
We are battling for the life changing gospel message of Jesus Christ to be brought into people’s lives. The enemy of God will not take this lying down.
He fights this with every bit of his fiber.
Scripture tells us in James 4:7, “Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee.” If Satan can disguise his working power we will not recognize his attacks and therefore will not stand against him. How can we resist an enemy we do not see as being present?
His weapons are deception, fear, distraction, apathy and ignorance, to name a few.
Although we should not give Satan more credit and focus than he deserves, we do need to recognize and stand against his attacks.
Are you battling anger? Is your family struggling? Are you facing addictions?
Are you struggling daily just to pray?
How do you fight these and other struggles?
You fight them with the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is our sword. This verse describes God’s word as being alive and active. It is what defeats this evil enemy. It’s powerful.
Are you facing Satan fully equipped with the sword of the spirit?
Do you know the bible? Do you study it?
Learn the promises of God’s word and stand firmly on them. Wrap your life around them.
Verbally speak them out as you pray.
Your prayers should be filled with the word of God.
Promises from scripture are powerful. They’re true. They’re alive. And they defeat this powerful adversary.
What if you prayed the word of God?
