What if we prayed for healing?

It was 2:00 am, the morning of my conference in Ukraine. I couldn’t sleep; not because of the pain I was experiencing in my back, but because I was too excited about my conference and what would lie ahead that day. I had some thoughts and teachings I couldn’t wait to share with these ladies coming to hear me speak.

As I lay there I began to pray, both for the women coming, and for my back. Several days before, my back “went out” for no apparent reason and I could not stand straight without terrible pain.

I began describing it to the Lord, not that he didn’t already know, but because that’s what I do when I pray—I pour out my heart to him and that includes all I’m feeling and thinking.

Praying for healing

As I lifted my situation up to him, I described how hard it would be that day to minister to these ladies with my back in such pain. I could have prayed for grace to endure, and I’m sure God would have provided that. He always does. But I was prodded from within to ask for more. James 4:2 came to mind; “you have not because you ask not”. So I stepped out and asked God for complete healing. I began listing the characteristics of who God is. I acknowledged that he is loving, merciful and all-powerful, among other traits.

I then asked him to remove all the pain so I could minster to these dear ladies.

I knew at that moment he had healed me. I’m not sure how I knew, I just knew.

Soon after, I stood, and to no surprise the pain was gone. God healed my back completely. The pain never came back.

This has been such a testimony in my life; not only of God’s working power but of his tender love and care for me.

Do you need God’s healing touch? Do you have a physical need? Are there relational issues you’re struggling with? Do you need a touch of his healing power in your spiritual life?

Whatever you need, God can provide.

Look to him. Trust in him and his healing power. Ask him.

What if you prayed?
