Make a difference
Each of us has a story. Yours is different than mine but it’s just as impacting.
Most of us have had difficulties along the way. I know I have. We’ve suffered, maybe not as much as others have, but these difficult times have left scars and hurt, some deeper than others.
How have you suffered? When was that difficult time in your life? Maybe you’ve experienced a great loss. Perhaps your marriage has failed. Or you’ve undergone some physical pain. Some have had damaged childhoods that have left a lifetime of painful memories.
Are you suffering through a difficult time right now? I know many are.
The book of Corinthians addresses these painful experiences:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
(2 Cor. 1:3-4)
Do you know that God cares? He cares that you’ve suffered. He saw you then and he sees you now. It matters to him.
This passage calls him “the father of compassion”. And who does this include? “Those in any trouble.”
God brings comfort. Why? He comforts us not just because he loves us, but also so that we can comfort others.
His intention is to use the comfort we’ve received to help others who are also suffering.
It blesses me to know that God not only cares about my struggles, but also uses those very struggles to make a difference in others’ lives. They’re not a waste.
I hope this thought brings comfort to you as well.
So, what if we prayed? What if we asked God to open our eyes and hearts to others that need our help?
Prayer is the link that connects us to a suffering world.
Life’s struggles can cause us to keep our eyes fixed on ourselves. There’s no healing or benefit in that.
As we pray, our focus is turned upward to our compassionate God who not only brings needed healing to us, but who also uses us to bring a healing touch to others.
Your story is real. Why not use it to make a difference?
